NGO's

There is no one way to assist people in their healing journey. Share, join, work with us, or just tell a friend. All of the roads will lead you to the same destination: soldiers, veterans, and families in South Sudan who receive the help they need.

NGOs & Civil Society Partners

Stronger together: building a coalition for mental health in South Sudan

National Fair Outreach (NFO) cannot close South Sudan's mental health gap alone. And we do not think that any other individual NGO will be able to do so. Our vision is to form a coalition of both national and international organizations, including NGOs, CSOs, faith-based groups, and media houses, to provide the needed support to this nation.

NFO is a national NGO built on a multidisciplinary model. It involves lawyers, psychiatrists, psychologists, priests, bishops, civil society groups, and media. This approach shows our basic idea that healing after decades of war needs a combined approach in medical, legal, faith, and civil terms.

Why Partner with NFO

Where no single organization can close the gap alone, but a coalition can.

1

A Trusted and Recognized National Actor

NFO serves as the designated partner NGO for SCDVA and MODVA in relation to the MHPSS needs of the security sector, with direct access to national policy discussions.

2

A Multi-Disciplinary Delivery Model

The partner organizations would be able to tap into the structure already set up by NFO with regard to counselling, psychotherapy, training, advocacy, and faith-based services.

3

Reach Into a Hard-to-Access Population

There are existing links between NFO and SSPDF, veterans, cantonment sites, and the Ministry of Defence and Veterans Affairs. This is access that very few civil society organizations have at the moment.

4

Evidence-based and Locally Rooted Practice

Our method combines proven models of psychotherapy treatment (CBT, DBT, CPT, TF-CBT) together with cultural and religious methods in South Sudan.

Our Track Record

During the 5th RTNLA SCDVA Workshop on MHPSS in August 2023, NFO was able to work together with the Specialized Committee on National Security and Public Order, Ministry of Health, National Prisons Service, National Women’s Security Network, CSOs and media to formulate national recommendations on MHPSS, among which are the need to further empower NFO as a national partner as well as to give NFO the responsibility of coming up with the MHPSS training package. The 5th RTNLA SCDVA Workshop on MHPSS further highlighted that existing MHPSS systems in both Kenya and Uganda can serve as a basis for a National MHPSS system in South Sudan.
